Victoria University (VU) offers the VU Career Mentoring Program, matching current students with mentors from both industry and alumni.

The one-on-one mentoring allows students to discuss their career aspirations and helps them prepare for the transition from university to work.

Our industry career mentors

VU graduates go into a broad range of roles and industries. Our mentors have a range of professional experiences, and use their knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.

Being a mentor offers the opportunity for:

  • exposure to fresh perspectives, ideas and approaches
  • opportunity to reflect on your own goals and practices
  • development of your personal leadership and coaching styles
  • personal satisfaction from developing the next generation of industry professionals.

Participation as a mentor in the VU Career Mentoring Program is a voluntary role.

Benefits for students

Taking part in our VU Career Mentoring Program as a student (mentee) will help you:

  • learn about common graduate career paths or job options for your discipline or course
  • discover what employers are looking for in new employees/graduates
  • gain knowledge of work and industry expectations and culture
  • develop professional networks in your chosen discipline and gain confidence in networking
  • build your knowledge of the labour market
  • make informed career plans.

The program is fully funded – there are no fees for students.
